Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0
Magento announced its release of Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0 today with a flood of new feature improvements. The new release of Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0 was focused on advancing platform quality and the overall ease of operations by improving various tax calculations, bug fixes, and security issues.
1. Improved Tax Calculations in Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0
Value Added Tax Calculations
Changes to the Magento Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, or Magento WEEE, the flat rate Value Added Taxes attribute, have resolved a variety of issues. (What is Magento WEEE?) New updates to the Value Added Tax calculations resolved issues with cross-border trade allowing tax and currency conversions to be applied properly. This enables international customers to view the same product price on the product page as the shopping cart. Customers can also place an order when multiple tax rules are applied to a product. The update calculates taxes on orders that are shipped to different countries with different tax rates and can be easily viewed across guest and registered customers. Canadian customers can now even receive email invoices with the correct totals and credit memos that include Provincial Sales Tax and Goods and Services Tax.
Resolved Tax Rounding Issues
Issues were resolved in regards to the tax displayed when products had multiple tax rules or had overflow issues. This enables customers to have the proper cart price when they order a product from a country with a value added tax and ship it to a country with no value added tax. Shopping cart row total now displays properly after a discount is applied with a product with multiple tax rules.
Display issues updates
Incorrect tax values displayed in the admin panel have also been resolved. Admin panel display fixes also include the values displayed in PDF's for invoices, orders, and credit memos no longer overlap each other.
Bundled Product Issues
Bundled products have a variety of interrelated rules that produced some bug issues in Magento Enterprise 1.13, however the new Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0 release resolved a majority of these issues. Customized products that are dynamically bundled or have tiered pricing options are correctly calculated for the customer. Prices now exclude taxes for bundled products once a discount is applied to the product. Prices for bundled products now correctly display the price including and excluding tax in the shopping cart.
Fixed Product Tax Bugs
On the customers end shopping cart subtotals including discounts and fixed product taxes on a product now display properly. Credit memos now also display the correct fixed product tax. The issue with fixed product taxes displaying twice in the shopping cart has also been resolved. On the administrative side, issues with credit memos displaying the incorrect fixed product tax have been updated to display correctly. Invoices also calculate the total for an order with a fixed product tax and shopping cart discount accurately.
2. Functionality Fixes in Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0
Shopping Cart and Checkout Fixes
Issues with new customer registrations that allow users to register and see other customers dashboards have been resolved. Breadcrumbs are also displaying properly throughout shopping cart and checkout pages. Scheduled payments are now working properly with the contributions of Sylvain Raye. Bundled and configurable products that are out of stock are no longer available to checkout. When shopping carts are abandoned, emails are sent at the set scheduled time. Issues related to declaring values to ship, shipping label printing, and addresses with FedEx shipping options have been fixed.
Import and Export Fixes
Issues with scheduled exports have been resolved, you can now also export a shipment to CSV after printing its shipping label.
Payment Method Fixes
Updated have addressed issues with eWay Direct allowing the payment bridge console to operate efficiently, process credit memos, and allows orders to be refunded. Payments can now be made through Sagepay and Worldplay. Lastly, Authorize.net sends only one validation request per transaction with Customer Information Management enabled.
3. Security Enhancements in Magento Enterprise 1.13.1.0
Several security enhancements were made in the new release including improved password hashing algorithms, cross site request forgery, and return materials authorizations. Issues with vulnerabilities in the remote file inclusion were improved with OAuth code. Loopholes that enabled another user to access personal information of other users was closed. Remote code executions that allowed an attacker to delete files and directories from Magento installations have been addressed. Frontend cookie security settings have been fixed to prevent user session vulnerabilities.
